BIOGRAPHY
Lauded for her rich mezzo timbre and fierce acting prowess, Lindsey Polcyn onstage is “unforgettable” (Sarasota Observer). She received her masters in opera at the Boston Conservatory, her bachelor’s degree in both Opera and Musical Theatre at Capital University, and is now based in Philadelphia. Lindsey has been a young artist with Sarasota Opera, Virginia Opera, and Summerscape Opera at Bard. Her most recent roles have been The Mother in Hansel and Gretel, Mrs. McLean in Susannah, and Mrs. Nolan in The Medium. Past roles include La Zia Principessa in Suor Angelica, Sarastro in The Magic Flute: Retold, La Badessa in Suor Angelica, and Florence Pike in Albert Herring. She additionally has covered roles such as Die Alles-wissende Muschel/Zweite Deinerin in Die Ägyptische Helena, Azucena in Il Trovatore and Santuzza in Cavalleria Rusticana with Sarasota Opera. She has experience in Musical Theatre, having performed roles such as Désirée Armfeldt in A Little Night Music and Ernestina Money in Hello, Dolly! She was awarded an Encouragement Award at the Philadelphia District of the Eric and Dominique Laffont Competition, and was named a winner of the Career Bridges Grant Awards. Other honors include the Leo M. Rogers Award for Outstanding Apprentice Artist from Sarasota Opera Association, Professional Opera Artist Semifinalist position in the John Alexander Vocal Competition, and Concerto Competition winner at Capital University.
